Southville Places 4th in 2014 EdukCircle Docu Fest

Given barely two weeks of preparation for the competition in an unlikable weather, Team Southville composed of Communication and Multimedia Arts Students Arthessa Bola, Mark Castillo, Bea Dela Cruz, Jay Gurbuxani, Rhenessa Lacerna, Danica Jelina Rayos, Christel Reyes, Wilhelmina Zara, Ren De Guzman and James Ocampo, placed fourth in the 2014 2014 EdukCircle Documentary Film held last year.
With the theme Media and Politics: Reporting the Philippines’ Recent Biggest Political Scandals, the competition was sponsored by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and was held  to evaluate the communication practices in different academic fields.
Team Southville topped over more than 200 schools with their entry entitled “May True Love ba sa Social Media” discussing the advantages and disadvantages of having a love affair in social networking sites in the Philippines. In the end, they left the audience hanging on the same question wherein only the viewers will be able to answer their question regarding the video document.

“We are very humbled with all the support we got from our schoolmates. We had to interview people who had been in a relationship over the internet and shared what they have learned. After that we had to shoot and make things realistic. It was an overwhelming experience,” said the members.
