Southville Senior Aces French Goverment Certification

Southville International School and Colleges - Su Bin Lim of Gr. 12 - General Academic Strand passed the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) A1 Test she took last October 2016. The DELF Exam is the official certification awarded by the French Ministry of Education to validate the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language. It corresponds to the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFRL).

The test includes all the four macro skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. In the Reading Comprehension Test, Lim was given thirty minutes to read five short texts dealing with various situations from everyday life, and answer questions to test her comprehension. In the Writing Skills Test, she had another thirty minutes to fill out a form and write about daily life in a correspondence.

In the Listening Comprehension Test, Lim had twenty minutes to listen to short recordings dealing with everyday situations and then answered questions to test her understanding. In the Speaking Skills Test, she participated in a direct interview, information exchange, and simulated dialogue with the examiner for fifteen minutes.

Su Bin Lim’s certification by the French government is the fruit of her Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Project in Senior High School where everyone is encouraged to display her growth mindset by improving one’s self through persistence, effort and focus on learning.
