SEED Academy Finishes First-runner up in the SGEN Cup Basketball Tourney

The Southville Global Education Network (SGEN) Cup 2016 is one of the most awaited sporting events in the member schools sports calendar. Various sports like basketball, volleyball, football and badminton are played by the high school varsity teams of South Mansfield College (SMC), Stonyhurst Southville International School – Batangas (SSIS-Batangas), Stonyhurst Southville International School – Malarayat (SSIS-Malarayat), Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), and SEED Academy. The SEED Academy team, under Coach Dave, was composed of only seven players namely Arjan De Ocampo, Nico Mabale, Maynard Olaer, Cyrille Pobre, Kyle Rambongga and Mark Raymundo.

The SEED Academy’s cagers won their first game against SSIS - Batangas behind their suffocating defense. In their second game against SMC, the SEED Academy five came from behind to steal the game. In their third game, SEED Academy was handed its first loss by SSIS – Malarayat. Needing to win their fourth game to advance to the finals, the SEED Academy dribblers beat SISC with a choking defense that led to turnovers and were converted into points.

In the championship game, the SEED Academy cagers brought their big hearts but their tanks were almost empty as SSIS - Malarayat won the game and bagged the championship. The undermanned SEED Academy settled for 1st Runner Up.
