The Southville International School and Colleges Model United Nations delegation has left for China to participate in the WEMUN Expo Conference from August 3-6, 2017 at the Beijing Olympic Convention Center in Beijing, China.

Ian Luis Mercado, Isaac Lorenzo Estanislao, Jhoanna Carmela Ramos, Yashneil Ace Bensani, Jeong Changjune, Choi Yonseo, Kwak Hyo Sang, Stephen Lorenzo Salvador, with their mentors Miss Syra Logatoc, Mister Jude Russel Cutapay and Miss Floribel Ferrer are participating in Model United Nations, an educational simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

The conference will use the UN4MUN Concept and will gather around 1000 participants from around the world. WEMUN Expo is an inter-nationally recognized Model United Nations platform headquartered in Beijing, China. It is the largest permanent Model UN conference in Asia. Every year, around 1500 delegates from 30 countries join the event.

WEMUN Expo brings together members of other internationally-recognized Model UN organizations from Boston University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, UC Berkeley, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and the Hague International Model United Nations.

The Southville community sends their best wishes to this year’s representatives. Good luck, Monarchs!
