Southville MUN Delegation Wins Big in WEMUN Expo Conference 2017

The Southville International School and Colleges Model United Nations (MUN) delegation returned from the 10th WEMUN Expo Conference in Beijing, China with the top awards. Hyo Sang Kwak of International Baccaluareate 1 won the Silver Delegate Awardee from the Paris Climate Change Summit, Boston University Model United Nations (BeanMUN); Choi Yoonseo (최윤서) of Grade 10 – Leadership won Silver Delegate Awardee from the Bandung Conference, Boston University Model United Nations (BeanMUN); and Stephen Lorenzo Salvador III of Grade 12 – ABM won the WEMUN Directors' Choice Award for Outstanding Performance, United Nations Security Council, Model United Nations of University of Chicago (MUNUC).

The Southville delegation was composed of Ian Luis Mercado, Isaac Lorenzo Estanislao, Jhoanna Carmela Ramos, Yashneil Ace Bensani, Jeong Changjune, Choi Yonseo, Kwak Hyo Sang, Stephen Lorenzo Salvador, with their mentors Miss Syra Logatoc, Mister Jude Russel Cutapay and Miss Floribel Ferrer. The conference sought to provide a parallel educational experience for talented secondary school students as they learn about the United Nations, international institutions, and the democratic political process through an exciting role-playing experience.

The Southville MUN delegation was the only team coming from the Philippines. They joined more than 2000 delegates from 120 schools from 15 countries including USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, China, Singapore, India and more. WEMUN Expo is an inter-nationally recognized Model United Nations platform headquartered in Beijing, China. It is the largest permanent Model UN conference in Asia.
