"Southville’s Poor Urban Child (POUCH) was a program that made an impact in my life. As a future nurse, caring is part of the values that we must uphold in our lives. Through POUCH, I was able to learn early the importance of caring for other individuals through serving and sharing with the beneficiaries of POUCH what they are not privileged to have." read more>>

Work and Travel

At Southville International School and Collages, they provide a Work and Travel programme where the students are given an opportunity to travel to the states in order to gain some work experience. The school’s various departments has connections with companies overseas, which is all organized before they arrive, so the students wouldn’t have the struggle of looking for work when they arrive there.

Immersing the students in a whole new culture not only gives them worldly wisdom, but it also helps to avoid cultural barriers. Also, the students being away from home teaches them independence and budgeting, as they are paid work placements and must learn how to “fend for themselves”. This programme gives the students to experience different cultures, meet new people, and expand their knowledge of the working world outside of the Philippines.
