Southville Nursing Students Conduct Community Diagnosis

Second year BS Nursing students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) concluded their 2-month community diagnosis last September 2, 2011 with the theme “Panibagong Kaisipan, Panibagong Buhay”. The activity was held at SISC’s adopted community, Barangay CAA Phase 4.

The goal of the outreach activity was to improve the living conditions of community members through positive impact in health behavior. It consisted of health education classes for children and adults, wound cleaning, BP taking and consultation, and feeding of 900 participants.

The outreach activity was both a learning and rewarding experience for the students who immersed themselves in a fundraising event prior to the outreach in order to support the activities of the community.

The success of the activity was also made possible by the leadership of the entire faculty of College of Nursing headed by Dean Carmel Villegas and the Southville International Organization for Nursing Students (SION).
