SISC Karate Team Bags 16 Medals in National Tournament

Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) Karate contingent brought home a total of sixteen medals (five gold, six silver, and five bronze) from the 2012 Okinawan Karate Kobudo Tournament held at the Aguilar Sports Complex in Las Piñas City last January 29, 2012.


Organized by the Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan – Philippine Dokokai, the tournament is a goodwill competition in the Okinawan Goju Ryu Karatedo Meibukan form of martial arts. The contest is in Kata, which is a choreographed pattern of movements. The medal winners are:


Trixie Archibald – Gold Medal (Intermediate) and Silver Medal (Nunchakku Kata)

Celine Aguinaldo – Gold Medal (Novice)

Ma. Therese Aliño – Silver Medal (Intermediate) and Bronze Medal (Staff Kata)

Gen Mark Tanno – Gold Medal (Intermediate), Silver Medals (Brass Knuckle Kata, Nunchakku Kata, and Staff Kata)

Yuji Yoshida – Gold Medals (Truncheon Kata and Staff Kata) and Silver Medal (Advanced)

Mario Masias – Silver Medal (Novice)

Andrew Cruz – Bronze Medal (Truncheon Kata)

Tae Hun Lee – Bronze Medal (Advanced)

Jason Andico – Bronze Medal (Intermediate)
