Dr. Marvin Jino Bugna

High School,

Class 2004-2005

"Southville trained me to become a responsible and disciplined person. It helped me become a good leader in many ways. It taught me the importance of helping others and studying hard in order to get good grades. Applying the 5C’s (Competence, Character, Collaboration, Creativity and Commitment to Achieve) and 5S’s (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) that Southville taught me was a great help that made a big impact and difference in my life in becoming a doctor." read more>>

The Institutional Research and Development (IRD) is a committed unit of Southville International School and Colleges in supporting its institutional vision by inspiring the SISC and SGEN community members in their pursuit of relevant knowledge and skills through research for their personal and professional advancement that will contribute to equipping the SISC graduates with the 5 Cs (Competence, Character, Collaboration, Commitment to Achieve and Creativity); the realization of the SISC vision, mission and goals; and the achievement of educational and socio-economic stability of the country towards international recognition.

The Institutional Research Department (IRD) Office is a unit committed to keep the SISC community and the SGEN affiliate schools well-informed with accurate and timely information so that they may carry out their individual and collective vision and mission effectively and efficiently and ensure that the SGEN affiliate schools are represented well to external agencies.

The IRD mission is spelled out in the acronym: RESEARCH.

Research for information through systematic and organized procedure in order to provide relevant and accurate data input to SISC and the SGEN community in institutional decision-making procedures.

Experiment if necessary. IRD encourages experiential learning especially for the students in the College of Nursing, Information Technology and the College of Business, thus qualitative research endeavors are encouraged especially in these fields. Employees are encouraged to conduct experimental projects for the purpose of improving systems efficiency and productivity in terms of cost-saving and product excellence.

Simplify procedures in gathering, presentation, analysis and interpretation of data if ever possible. It is the mission of the IRD to make research enjoyable and challenging to researchers and not threatening. The IRD Center has an in-house research consultant and a statistician who help researchers with their institutional research endeavors.

Equip the SISC and the SGEN communities with necessary knowledge, skills and tools in conducting and writing up a research paper, Productivity and Quality Team (PQT) Projects, and Special Projects.

Affiliate with national and international research agencies and offices to benchmark with their excellent practices.

Record, document, and make research results available for SISC and SGEN communities’ use.

Collect, define, analyze, maintain, publish, and disseminate official institutional data and circulate such official institutional information to both internal and external constituents for the purposes of describing, documenting, and publishing institutional information and measures of effectiveness.

Harmonize natural curiosity and inquisitiveness of the SISC and SGEN communities towards acquisition of knowledge through research.
