Southville senior gets highest mark in International exam




Lee Chan Hee of Senior High School obtained the highest grade of A* in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination in High Math conducted by the University of Cambridge, UK. He took the test when he was in Junior High School last academic year.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a globally recognized qualification conducted at the Grade 10 level. IGCSE has an excellent reputation among international schools worldwide, and is one of the most sought-after qualifications in the world. IGCSEs are recognized as a reliable record of attainment which counts towards entry to universities and colleges around the world.

Subjects are graded A*, A, B, C, D, E ,F and G. A is awarded for the highest level of success and G for the lowest. The exams are graded by qualified Cambridge authorities. Out of 761, 230 students who took the same Math test, only 6.1 percent got A*. “I really wanted to get a good score in the exam. I kept on practicing on the topics and mathematical skills that I found difficult. Persistence, optimism and a lot of practice motivated me to achieve my goal.” - Lee Chan Hee
