Southville BS Tourism Students Oriented on Functions and Roles on Foreign Affairs

“The tour made me realize how important it is to be aware of the ins and outs of Foreign Affairs. It’s a vast world out there and being with DFA requires not only knowledge of the international law but passion and heart to serve as a link of the Philippines to the world,’’ thus shared one of the BS Tourism students of Southville International School and Colleges in their recent visit to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The industry visit to DFA is aimed to raise the level of awareness and appreciation of the BS Tourism students of how the DFA advances the interests of the Philippines and the Filipino people in the world community.

Mr. Ronald M. Joves - Acting Director, Honorary Consuls and Service Attaches Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs served as a speaker and shared his expertise. He underscored the functions and roles of DFA as well as related the impact of foreign and local policies to the lives of our overseas workers.

“Visits like this are part of exposing our students to the actual field. Giving them first-hand experience before they are sent out to the ‘real world’ is part of our Outcomes Based Education. It’s not mere theories that will make the students ready but bringing them to where the ‘show’ is,” said Ms. Nancy de Guia, BS Tourism Chairperson.
