Southville Mathletes Shine in International Math Competition




Southville International School and Colleges' mathletes Raven Breanna Maat of Gr. 5 - Righteousness and Gwyneth Tangog of of Gr. 7 – Resilience received the Certificate of Distinction Award in the 2016 Australian Mathematics Competition. The award is given to students in the top 15 percent of each level and region, or belonging between the 85 and 98 percentile.

In the same competition, fourth graders Daniel Baniqued, Alexi Marie Esteban and Hyung Jin Yoon, sixth graders Jin Won Cha and Seo Young Lee, seventh grader Antwone Ong, eighth graders Jun Ho Choi, Rueben Byron Maat and Chang Min Yoon, ninth graders Stefano de Castro and Inigo Miguel Hernandez and tenth grader Matthew Ezekiel Sybingco received the Credit Award for being in the top 50 percent of their level. They won their awards for their performance relative to other students in their region, of the same year level.

The Australian Mathematics Competition is conducted by the Australian Mathematics Trust for students from Year 3 up to Year 12 in Australia and their equivalent grades in other countries. More than 40 countries and thousands of participants have made the event one of the world's largest mathematics competition.
