Southville Math Whiz Reaps Awards in Vietnam



Southville International School and Colleges Grade 8 student, Gwyneth Margaux Tangog, brought home medals from the 15th Hanoi Math Olympiad Competition held last March 26-30, 2018 in the capital city of Vietnam. Tangog earned a gold medal in the team competition together with four more Gr. 8 students from the Philippines by finishing in first place followed by Vietnam and then China. She also added a bronze medal in the individual contest, competing at the Junior level.

The event was participated in by 500 students from 9 different countries namely China, Thailand, Indonesia, Poland, Hungary, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and host country Vietnam. The event intended to stress the role of mathematics in national development, and support Vietnam’s international integration with foreign contestants joining for the first time.
