Southville Mathlete to Represent Philippines in International Math Tourn



Gen Mark Tanno of Southville International School and Colleges will compete in the upcoming 5th International Young Mathematicians’ Competition (IYMC) sponsored by the City Montessori School (CMS) and office of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh of India on November 28-December 6, 2012.

In his letter, Dr. Eduardo O. dela Cruz Jr, Chairman of the International Contest Committee of the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild of the Philippines (MTG) emphasized that it was the impressive performance of Gen Mark together with the other 14 delegates in their training programs and in the international mathematics competitions that earned them the slot to represent the country at 5th IYMC.

An internationally recognized competition with officials and judges distinguished in their fields, IYMC focuses on the use of science and mathematics for positive and constructive purposes. Gen Mark, who recently received a high distinction certificate from the 2012 International Competitions and Assessment for Schools (ICAS), will be competing with the best students from around the world.
