Southville, Nick Jr. Advocate Learning through Playing

“I am so excited!” exclaimed Takeshi Inomata, a Senior Prep Southville student during the opening of the much awaited Nick Jr.’s Play to Learn Caravan held recently.

Sponsored by Nick Jr., the activity aims to teach the students the value of team spirit while having a fun learning experience. Southville’s Gym 2 was turned into a life-size playground featuring booths like Dora’s Number Town, Kai-Lan’s Ring Toss, painting and storytelling, among others.

An annual activity, Southville’s Early Childhood Education Division supports Nick Jr. Caravan, believing that children learn best through activities that they enjoy doing, and play is something that children love to do. “Play is also one way to keep children focused and participative in learning activities, especially if it involves hands-on activities,” added Ms. Gladys Mintu, Munich Campus Deputy Principal.

Further, the event provided an avenue to strengthen parent-children relationship as parents were also invited to play with their kids. As one parent said, “It’s really fun for the kids and we look forward to this.”
