Southville Celebrates Araw ng Wika

Basic Education students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) joined the nation in its commemoration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa this August 2012. With the theme “Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka-Pilipino,” a lineup of activities was firmed up in recognition of Filipino as a common language that unites the nation. The students were exposed in their Filipino classes to various meaningful level activities such as Bugtungan Quiz Bee , Poster Making, and the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) Pinoy Idol and Duet to promote appreciation of the Filipino language.

The celebration culminated in the Pistang Pinoy where the students enjoyed sumptuous Filipino food and delicacies then played native games such as “Agawang Panyo,” Calamansi Relay, “Magtanim ay di Biro” Relay, and “Pista sa Nayon.”

The celebrations served as a wonderful time to inculcate the spirit of nationalism among Filipino students and give foreign students a vivid demonstration of the rich culture and heritage of the Philippines.
