“With everything that I’m getting here in the U.S., the money that I’ll be earning is just a bonus! The experience is so surreal and more than enough for me,” shared Frances Margaret Descalzo when asked about her insights on Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) US Work and Travel Program.
An incoming 4th Year BSBA Marketing Management student, Margaret joined the US Work and Travel Program last March 2010 and is currently working as a Registration and Billing Assistant in the Study Abroad Department of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) in Portland, Maine. The company administers programs that allow U.S. college and university students and educators to study and teach abroad, and international students and professionals to study and work in the U.S.
An epitome of what a Southville student should be, Margaret exemplified 5Cs (Competence, Character, Collaboration, Creativity, Commitment to Achieve) in her workplace and thus, gained respect not only of her co-workers, who are students from other countries, but even her boss. “I’ve been receiving nice feedbacks from my co-workers and even from Kathy, my manager. She even included me in her weekly meetings, which is really a big deal for me. I always try to be hardworking and attentive to details as much as possible,” exclaimed Margaret.

Now on its fourth year, the US Work and Travel Program of Southville has provided opportunity to students to travel in the U.S. and at the same time, gain international working experience.
