In a world where schools are a dime a dozen, few leave a mark that lasts. Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) is one of those rare institutions. In 2025, as it celebrates 35 years, Southville stands not just as a school, but as a living story of transformation, innovation, and global relevance.
What began in 1990 as a single preschool class in Las Piñas has grown into a recognized leader in international education—the first Philippine school granted “international character” under Republic Act 9493. Today, it is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, ISO 9001:2015-certified, and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC-USA)—clear proof of its commitment to quality.
Over the years, Southville has earned the trust of the Department of Education as a “School of the Future,” received CHED’s Autonomous Status, and became the first in Asia to earn a gold distinction from Investors in People on its first application. Its impact resonates globally, ranking 105th in the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), with top spots in Empowerment-Based Management, Visionary Leadership, and Cost-Benefit Management, and placing 10th in the Philippines and 2nd in NCR. In the AppliedHE ASEAN 2025 rankings, it ranked 1st in Teaching and Learning in the Philippines, 4th in ASEAN, and 26th overall in the region.
But Southville’s real achievement is not in titles—it’s in people. Its alumni include Mark Gonzales, who tested NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover; Rex Wallen Tan, who is helping Congress address the country’s English proficiency decline and was recognized with the ACES Award as one of Asia’s Most Admirable Young Leaders in 2024; Gen Mark Tanno, who is currently a software engineer at Microsoft USA; and Junyeong Park, who was accepted to Seoul National University, one of South Korea’s prestigious SKY schools, among others.
Excellence is also at home here. Southville consistently achieves 100% board exam passing rates in Education, Psychology, Nursing, and Accountancy, with topnotchers like Venziel Pedrosa (4th place CPALE 2025), Francine Beatrice Cruz (2nd place Nursing 2021), and Cacharelle Mae Rapirap (2nd place LET 2016).
Its current students carry the torch—winning hundreds of medals at Yale’s World Scholar’s Cup, earning top IB scores of 44 and 43, presenting tourism innovations in Seoul, and pioneering world-class online learning through the VOLT platform.
Its innovation extends beyond technology into social responsibility. Through its flagship community outreach arm, Southville For Others (SFO), the institution empowers students, faculty, and staff to give back to society. From disaster relief and educational scholarships to environmental initiatives and livelihood programs, SFO ensures that Southville’s pursuit of excellence is matched with compassion and service. This commitment to social impact is further highlighted by Southville’s partnership with the Liter of Light Foundation, where students and educators help bring sustainable solar lighting solutions to underserved communities across the globe.
For 35 years, Southville has stayed true to its mission: to nurture world-ready leaders with competence, character, commitment to achieve, collaboration, and creativity. From one classroom to the global stage, from a dream to an enduring legacy—Southville is not just looking back on its journey. It’s charging forward, ready to shape the next 35 years of excellence.
This is Southville—home of the Movers of Society.
