Southville International School and Colleges proudly recognizes Team ALSA BERDE, composed of business students, Hannako C. Hirata, Tim Kendrick P. De Vera, and Irish Claire R. Labay, for successfully advancing to the Semi-Final Round of the 5th PIM International Hackathon – University League, hosted by the International College of Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Thailand.
Competing under the guidance of Prof. Jose Nestor S. Guevara II, the team earned their place among the Top 25 University Teams after a rigorous screening process involving numerous entries from institutions across Asia. Reaching the semi-finals in such a highly selective and international competition is already a significant accomplishment that reflects their dedication, strategic thinking, and strong potential as future business leaders.
ALSA BERDE: A Vision for Sustainable Cities
The team presented ALSA BERDE, an urban farming social enterprise advocating sustainable food systems, vertical gardens, CSR partnerships, and community empowerment. Their project directly addresses food insecurity in urban areas, where millions of Filipinos struggle with access to fresh, affordable produce.
Through smart farming kits, community garden programs, and corporate-driven sustainability initiatives, ALSA BERDE promotes localized food production, greener cities, and long-term community resilience. Their pilot project in Las Piñas City and secured pre-orders from schools and organizations demonstrate strong feasibility and real-world relevance.
A Testament to Southville Excellence
Throughout the competition, Team ALSA BERDE exemplified Southville’s values of: Character, Commitment to achieve, Competence, Collaboration, and Creativity/Innovation, while also demonstrating grit, resilience, and a growth mindset. Their ability to compete at an international level, pitch confidently to global judges, and refine their concept under pressure reflects the caliber of Southville’s business education.
Their achievement is a proud milestone not only for the team but also for the entire Southville community. It serves as a reminder that Southville students are prepared to take on global challenges armed with innovation, purpose, and the determination to make a difference.
Southville commends Team ALSA BERDE for representing the institution with excellence and for championing sustainability, social impact, and future-ready leadership.
