A Commitment to Lead: The Story of Teacher Samuel Bendo

Every educator’s path is shaped by experience, conviction, and community—and Teacher Samuel Bendo’s journey at Southville International School and Colleges is no exception. A proud Monarch since 2002, Samuel has served as a faculty member, completed Southville’s Teaching Certificate Program (TCP) in 2019, and continues to be a devoted father to four Southville students.

His decision to pursue formal licensure through TCP was fueled by Southville’s encouragement and commitment to professional growth. “As someone who wasn’t originally an education graduate, the opportunity to earn my teaching license through a program I trusted was invaluable,” he shares.

Designed for non-education degree holders, Southville’s TCP is fulfilled over two semesters, offering a structured, supportive gateway into the teaching profession. More than academic theory, the program is built around reflective practice, real-life applications, and thoughtful mentoring, all of which made learning deeply relevant for Samuel. “The well-planned activities, the all-out effort of the professors—they made the experience truly meaningful,” he recalls.

These experiences not only helped him pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) but also prepared him to lead with strength and clarity through the demands of the pandemic. Southville’s flexible format and emphasis on real-world immersion empowered him to balance his roles as educator, learner, and father—all with conviction.

Throughout his two decades in education, Southville’s 5Cs—Competence, Character, Commitment to Achieve, Creativity, and Collaboration—have remained a guiding force. For Samuel, Commitment to Achieve means pursuing excellence with faith, integrity, and wholehearted dedication. “To truly achieve, you need to embody the rest of the 5Cs. It’s a full-hearted pursuit, always anchored in faith,” he says.

His message to students is rooted in spiritual wisdom: “Trust the Lord with all your heart. Don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, seek Him—and that’s where you’ll find real joy.”

Mr.  Samuel Bendo’s legacy is one of quiet impact—built on years of dedication, strengthened by Southville’s Teaching Certificate Program, and enriched by a family deeply woven into the fabric of the Southville community. For him, teaching is more than a profession. It is a mission—and it begins and ends with purpose.
