A Masterpiece of Perspectives: TEDxSISC Youth 2026 Celebrates the “Human Mosaic”

On March 21, 2026, the Monarchs Hall at the SISFU campus was transformed into a hub of inspiration and intellectual curiosity. TEDxSISC Youth, an independently organized event licensed by TED and hosted by the students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), successfully gathered minds from across the community to share “ideas worth spreading.”

Under the evocative theme “Human Mosaic,” the event celebrated the intricate way individual stories, unique ideas, and diverse perspectives interlock to shape a collective future. Much like a mosaic, the day proved that while every piece is distinct, the true beauty emerges when they are viewed together.

The energy was palpable as nearly a hundred participants—ranging from SISC High School and IB students to SISFU undergraduates and external guests—arrived for the morning session. The event kicked off with a warm greeting from the TEDxSISC Youth Officers.

During registration, attendees received a specially curated attendee kit in the form of a stylish tote bag. Inside, guests found customized essentials to help them document the day’s insights, including a notebook, pen, keychain, and a sticker sheet. The entire day was seamlessly facilitated by two dynamic 12th Grade student emcees, Kenichi Maruyama and Isabelle Andree Tan, whose energy kept the audience engaged from start to finish.

The morning lineup challenged the audience to look inward and re-evaluate their personal journeys:

  • Valerie Pawid-West (Miss Global Philippines 2026): In her talk, “When the Tile Cracks: Engineering a Mosaic Life,” she spoke poignantly about resilience, illustrating how life’s “cracks” and failures are not flaws, but essential elements that add depth to one’s personal story.
  • Nikki Tang (CEO of DMark Beauty and DermAsia): With “The Human Mosaic: Becoming, Piece by Piece,” she shared insights on the continuous process of self-growth, emphasizing that leadership and success are built incrementally through persistence.
  • Sherwin O (President of CIIT College of Arts and Technology): He tackled a common modern anxiety in “The Myth of Finding Your Purpose,” suggesting that purpose isn’t something hidden to be “found,” but something built through action and curiosity.
  • Saanvi Shetty (IB1 Student & Student Speaker): In “Beyond the Stereotype,” Saanvi delivered a powerful perspective on breaking free from societal labels, representing the voice of a generation eager to be defined by their character rather than tropes.

The morning was further elevated by a stunning vocal performance by Mikayla Danea Tablan, known to many as the “Juliet” of this year’s 10th Talent Night Performance, whose prowess captivated the audience during the break.

After the midday break, the focus shifted toward professional journeys and the courage to be different:

  • JC Rezabek (a.k.a. Naisou): The e-Sports commentator explored the unconventional in “Built From Detours: How Setbacks, Risks, and Discipline Create Your Human Mosaic,” showing how even the most unexpected turns can lead to a fulfilling career.
  • Inna Palacios (Professional Football Player): The former captain of the Philippine Women’s National Football Team inspired the crowd with “Being your Own Leader to Leading A Nation,” detailing the discipline required to transition from personal excellence to national leadership.
  • Fabian Dayrit (Professor Emeritus, AdMU): In “Career Choices: Why I Choose the Less Traveled Path,” the renowned chemist discussed the rewards of intellectual bravery and pursuing scientific inquiry over more conventional routes.
  • Nyoy Volante (OPM singer-songwriter): The OPM icon provided an intimate look at the music industry, pulling back the curtain on the “other side” of entertainment—the hard work, the vulnerability, and the reality behind the spotlight.

The afternoon session also featured the vocal talents of Soleil Gabrielle Valdez, the “Arielle” of the 8th Grade Talent Night performance, who moved the crowd with her soulful rendition.

The seamless execution of the event was the result of months of dedication by the TEDxSISC Youth Core Team, led by Moderator Mr. Erik Lloyd Timpug, alongside Ju Young Lee, Alarice Willow Laraño, and Ryu Dan Bi.

This monumental undertaking was made possible through the unwavering support of the SISC Office of Student Affairs and strategic partnerships with Hitec, CTD Global, and Finetex Technology Corporations – Philippines.

As the final applause echoed through Monarchs Hall, it was clear that TEDxSISC Youth 2026 was more than just a series of speeches—it was a communal experience. The event concluded on a high note, hailed as a massive success by students and guests alike. Attendees left not just with a tote bag of souvenirs, but with a renewed understanding that their individual “tiles” are vital to the grand, ever-evolving human mosaic.
