Before she became Dean of the Institute of Tourism at Southville International School and Colleges, Dr. Nancy de Guia was already a seasoned leader in corporate management. But after early retirement, she felt a quiet tug toward something more personal—a desire to give back and grow in new ways.
What began as a part-time role soon unfolded into a full-circle calling. Today, Dr. Nancy not only serves as Dean of Tourism but also leads as Southville’s Director for International Linkages and Affiliations, helping shape global partnerships that expand the horizons of both students and faculty.

Her leadership is most visible in the BS Tourism Management program, which she helped transform into one of Southville’s most globally attuned offerings. The program blends academic rigor with immersive, real-world exposure—preparing students for careers in airlines, hotels, cruise tourism, destination marketing, and more. With a curriculum grounded in sustainability, service excellence, and digital fluency, students gain not only knowledge but also the character to lead with heart.
Southville’s consistent 100% passing rate in the Amadeus Certification speaks to the program’s commitment to industry relevance. Students also earn additional credentials through MOOCs in Hotel Management, Sustainable Cities, and Environmental Public Health—giving them a competitive edge in the global job market. Faculty members, drawn from government, academe, and industry, ensure that every lesson is grounded in both theory and practice.

Ask Dr. Nancy where she feels most at home on campus, and her answer is unexpectedly precise: the Boardroom.
“It’s where ideas become real,” she says. “Even though Southville seemed small when I first joined, the way we strategized—it felt big. That room represents not just structure, but heart-led planning.”
Fifteen years in, she remains deeply rooted in Southville’s culture of excellence. What keeps her inspired, she says, are the students.

“Watching them grow into their own voices and values—there’s nothing like it. Every student has their own journey, and being part of that process is an honor.”
Graduation day always brings tears, not just for the milestone, but for the meaning behind it. “Their joy says it all. That’s when I feel most fulfilled.”

Her impact goes beyond moments—it’s embedded in milestones: Level 3 PACUCOA accreditation, consistent wins in competitions, and growing Southville’s reputation through student leadership in external organizations.
To Dr. Nancy, Southville isn’t just a workplace—it’s a partner in growth. “If Southville were a person, it would be someone with grit, grace, and a powerful spirit.”

Her advice to those starting their journey? “Find your true north. That’s where purpose lives—and where legacy begins.”
