Jodi Sta. Maria on Healing, Connection, and the Courage to Lead with Compassion

In a time when digital connection is constant but emotional isolation is rising, Southville BS Psychology alumna Jodi Sta. Maria offered a powerful reminder: human connection is not just comforting—it’s transformative.

In her TEDx talk, The Healing Power of Human Connection | Jodi Sta. Maria, Jodi shared deeply personal reflections on vulnerability, empathy, and the strength found in reaching out. Her message was clear: through connection, we heal, empower, and grow.

Jodi’s journey is one of remarkable depth. A celebrated Filipina actress, she has starred in iconic television dramas like Be Careful With My Heart and Pangako sa ‘Yo, earning international recognition including a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress at the 44th International Emmy Awards and a win for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Asian Academy Creative Awards. But beyond the screen, Jodi has become a steadfast advocate for mental health—grounded in her academic foundation as a Psychology graduate with honors from Southville International School and Colleges.

Her TEDxSISC Youth appearance was more than a speech—it was a call to action. She invited listeners to embrace their own stories, lean into vulnerability, and lead with compassion in their communities. In doing so, she reminded us that the strongest leaders are often the most empathetic.
