Southville Students Shine in UN Simulation

Six high school students from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) joined more than 200 delegates from 66 schools around the world at Georgetown University – School of Foreign Service’s 7th Model United Nations (MUN) conference held last February 1 – 4, 2012 at Doha, Qatar.
The meet seeks to provide an unparalleled educational experience for talented secondary school students as they learn about the United Nations, international institutions, and the democratic political process through an exciting role-playing experience.
The SISC delegation was composed of Jan Nathalia Atendido, Ana Andres, A Young Choi, Polo De Castro, Karren Delgado, and Julia Wong with their mentor, Ms. Laura Mendoza. Guided by undergraduate students from Georgetown University, the SISC representatives stepped into the role of a political figure, discussed and debated current global issues, worked together to draft bills and resolutions, and experienced formulating policies with their peers from around the world.
The SISC participants were also recognized with Julia Wong cited for Best Amendment and Most Stylish Female Delegate, and Anna Andres acknowledged for Most Made Progress. Jan Atendido had four articles in the Qatar MUN published by the British Broadcasting Corporation, while all delegates were co-submitters of approved resolutions.
