When you first meet Yuki Togawa of Grade 7–Kindness, you might see her as a quiet, diligent student who consistently earns academic honors. But behind her calm demeanor lies the heart of a fierce competitor—one who, in just over a year, has already made her mark on the international fencing stage.
Yuki’s journey to fencing is anything but ordinary. For five years, she gracefully pursued ballet, building discipline, balance, and poise. Alongside that, she dedicated seven years to karate, sharpening her strength, focus, and fighting spirit. Then, at just nine years old, Yuki discovered fencing—a sport that would soon ignite her passion more than anything else before.
In only her first year of competition, Yuki has already built an impressive record:
- Top 5 – U12 Women’s Foil, Tokyo International Fencing Competition
- Top 6 – U12 Women’s Foil (out of 42 contestants), Chiba City General Fencing Tournament
- Top 5 – U14 Women’s Foil, Hakone, Japan Samurai Challenge
- Top 8 – U12 Women’s Foil, Hakone, Japan Samurai Challenge
- Rank 11 – U14 Women’s Foil (out of 32 contestants), Numazu Cup Fencing Championship
Each tournament has been a step forward, proving her resilience and determination to grow in the sport she now loves most. What makes Yuki’s story even more inspiring is that she balances these athletic pursuits while remaining a consistent achiever in her academics—a true embodiment of discipline, perseverance, and balance.
Yuki’s success is a testament to the power of passion and commitment. She reminds us that it’s never too early to dream big and chase after goals with heart and courage. From the graceful steps of ballet to the disciplined strikes of karate, and now to the sharp precision of fencing, Yuki continues to show us that greatness comes when you embrace every challenge with joy and determination.
