Care for our common home is not just a phrase, it is a calling. And for several members of the Southville community, that calling has now been answered with action, commitment, and a verified certification that signals their readiness to lead others toward a more ecologically responsible future.
Ms. Belen Mandin, Ramcis Yana, Sary Esurel, Ronald Verde, and Tomas Leopoldo have successfully completed the Laudato Si’ Certified Environmental Trainer program, a rigorous course offered through the Don Bosco School of Theology under the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. Their verified certificates, issued in May 2026, represent the completion of a deeply meaningful formation program that integrates Theology, Ecology, and Technology into a holistic framework for environmental education.
The Laudato Si’ Action Platform takes its name and inspiration from Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on care for the environment, a document that challenges individuals, communities, and institutions to take seriously their responsibility toward the Earth. Becoming a Laudato Si’ Certified Environmental Trainer means more than earning a certificate. It means committing to share that ecological wisdom with others, to become a multiplier of awareness, action, leadership, compassion, sustainability, environmental stewardship, responsibility, and hope for future generations worldwide, inspiring communities to protect nature through meaningful and collective environmental action.
For the Southville Global Education Network (SGEN), the next step is equally important: Ms. Belen and the other graduates will share their insights and present their learnings to the SGEN community, inspiring colleagues and students alike to embrace the call to care for creation in practical, everyday ways.
This is education at its most sacred, where faith, science, and responsibility meet. At a time when environmental challenges grow more pressing by the day, Southville is choosing to respond not with silence but with trained, passionate, and certified advocates for the Earth.
Congratulations, Ms. Belen, Ramcis, Sary, Ronald and Tomas. The Earth is grateful. And so are we.
