Monarchs Win in Karate Tournament



The Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) Karate contingent brought home a total of eleven medals (three gold, four silver, and four bronze) from the 2nd HICCA Karatedo Tournament held recently.

Hosted by the Philippine Shito Ryu Karatedo Federation, the tournament brought together practitioners in the traditional Shotokan form of the martial art of Karate-Do. The competition was in two categories namely Kata, which is choreographed patterns of movements, and Kumite, which is sparring.

The medal winners are:

Southville Supports Charity Toy Drive



Students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) brightened a less privileged child’s holiday season by donating new or used toys to the Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko toy drive. For the second year in a row, SISC collected toys which were distributed to local children who didn’t have any presents to open last Christmas.

Jollibee matched every donation with a Jollibee toy, thus doubling the number of gifts received by the beneficiaries, who are the students of Masville Elementary School, BF Learning Center, Daniel fajardo Elementary School, and CAA Elementary School. [Read more]

SGEN Launches OPERATION PAGLINGAP to Typhoon Sendong Victims



Southville Global Education Network (SGEN) Academic Community is activating its OPERATION PAGLINGAP to channel our love and concerns to the victims of Typhoon Sendong, said to be one of the deadliest cyclones to hit the Philippines in the last 12 years (GMA News Research).

In the Visayas, floods hit Dumaguete City and the towns of Sibulan and Valencia after the Ocoy and Banica Rivers overflowed. A bridge connecting Baranggays Palinpinon and Balabag in Valencia was damaged. Southville Basic Education Holds Christmas Bazaar



The High School Division and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) held the annual Christmas Bazaar open to the general public last December 2, 2011. The said activity was a major requirement of the SISC business curriculum which provides students with the opportunity to get a firsthand business experience outside the classroom setting.

Prior to the event, the students created an original business concept and developed a detailed business plan of tasks. The students took responsibility of all aspects of their business including purchasing, production, setup, pricing, and promotion.

Southville Opens Product Design and Development Unit (PDDU)



Building on its strong entrepreneurship and investment culture, Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) through the initiative of the College of Business Administration established the Product Design and Development Unit (PDDU) under the Entrepreneurship and Business Center. This unique program was designed to provide assistance and support for business students and young student-entrepreneurs in exploring new ventures.

Assistance and advisory services are available in the areas of market and product research, product design, development, marketing, packaging, advertising and sales promotion.

Graders Clinch 2nd Place in National Quiz Show



The tandem of Aika Riguerra of Grade 6-Perseverance and Matthew Sybingco of Grade 5-Righteousness clinched second place in the UNTV Campus Challenge featuring top students from private, public, and science schools from around the country.

Southville Student Earns Gold in Math Exam



Stefano Crispino de Castro of Grade 4-Humility will be awarded a gold medal for earning the highest score in the Standards-Based Assessment (SBA) for Mathematics for third graders given by the Asian Psychological Services & Assessment, Inc. last academic year 2010-2011.

95,552 students from 250 private schools nationwide took the said exam. The SBS Gold Medal of Mathematics will be awarded to Stefano during the 6th Annual Convention of the Math Circle of the Philippines on November 18, 2011. [Read more]

Southville Student Tops National Shooting Tournament



Proving that students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) excel not just in academics but also in sports is 14-year old sharpshooter Ma. Isabel Fernandez of High School III – Conviction. She may be young in age but not with experience, as she was proclaimed Champion in the recently concluded Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) National Open for 10-meter Air Pistol – Women’s Division.
