Southville Alumnus’ Film Wins in Global Fest

A short feature by Juan Paulo Reyes of High School Batch 2009 of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) was chosen as the winner in the Family Category of an international film competition organized by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation (TBFF).

With the theme “Let Me Show You How My Faith Inspires Me,” Reyes wrote, directed and edited the film First Steps to Recovery. It was a simple yet inspiring story of a little boy with big faith.

Reyes bested entries coming from India, Lebanon, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and the United States. An international panel of judges, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Hollywood actors Hugh Jackman and Jet Li, picked the three best short films.

Reyes graced the awarding ceremony held at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, where his film was also premiered. This feat marks his first major win as a filmmaker.
