Southville Robotics Teams Win First Competition

The robotics teams Southville International School and Colleges recently entered their first competition and came in second place and third place facing off against other entrants from public and private schools. The Junior High School Team of Cuitlauzina Brianna Cerbito, Stefano Crispino De Castro, Iñigo Miguel Hernandez and Gwyneth Margaux Tangog finished first runner-up in Envirobot 2018 held at Far Eastern University – Diliman.

The Senior High School Team of Tricia Hannah Arenas, Pola Berba and Song Jun Kyu, meanwhile, placed second runner-up in the same inter-school robotics competition.

The contestants are tasked with designing and building a robot from scratch using parts from a special kit sent to all of the competing teams and robotics programming, which both teams performed admirably well.

The Robotics Program in Southville was launched only this school year to reinforce students’ creativity and critical thinking skills, and demystify math, physics, engineering, and programming concepts.
