Southville visit highlights education innovations



Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) hosted a site visit by a six-person team representing the screening committee of the Excellence in Educational Transformation Awards (EETA), sponsored by the ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation, last January 22, 2013. SISC was shortlisted from schools all over the country for its innovations in curriculum design and development, learning materials, learning methodologies and delivery systems, administrative systems and processes, and learning spaces and places.  The EETA recognizes the innovators of education in the Philippines.

The team was made up of Prof. Cecilia Manikan, director at the Asian Institute of Management; Mr. Antonio Del Carmen, program director at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business; Mr. Levi Verora, director for entrepreneurship of ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation, Inc. (ABFI); Ms. Lorna Balina, public relations director of ABFI; Ms. Zaida Villanueva, marketing manager of of ABFI; and Patricia Lim, researcher at ABS-CBN.  The team was on campus to see firsthand SISC‘s innovations in relation to learning effectiveness, school efficiency, transferability, measurability, faculty development, and the school mission. The committee representatives spent the day conducting an extensive evaluation of SISC, visiting its facilities, poring over its documents and publications,observing classes, and interviewing staff, students, and parents from the school who shared how important they feel SISC’s programs are and talked about their educational experiences with SISC.
