SOUTHVILLE MONARCHS SHINE BRIGHT AT SCIENCE CASTLE ASIA 2025!

We’re thrilled to share that out of over 400 entries across Asia, four of our outstanding research teams from Southville International School and Colleges have been selected to present at Science Castle Asia 2025 in Malaysia this October.

These four teams have qualified to showcase their innovative work in the poster presentation session:

  • Exploring the Protective Corn Shoot Extract (DIMBOA) Against Bacteria Xanthomonas in Crops: A sustainable solution aiming to boost crop resistance and reduce agricultural losses
    • Lilas Alatasi, Ahmad Qwaider, and Angel Teng
  • Reinforcement of Bio-based Thermoplastic Splints Using Banana Inflorescence Fibers (Musa balbisiana var. Saba) and Cucumber Fibers (Cucumis sativus L.): Pioneering the use of agricultural waste for stronger, eco-friendly medical splints.
    • Sean Peter Fuentes, Eunice De Dios, and Celine Yabut
  • Effect of Bamboo Roofing on Indoor Temperature and Humidity: A study on how natural materials like bamboo can improve indoor climate conditions, especially in tropical settings.
    • Jose Antonio Masilungan

In addition, one of our teams has been granted the prestigious opportunity to deliver a Splash Presentation on the main stage! This exclusive chance gives them just 1.5 minutes to showcase their work and invite attendees to explore their poster.

  • Incorporating Barley Flour into Polylactic Acid for Enhanced Bone Bioceramics Properties: An innovative approach to improve biodegradable bone replacements using natural food-based additives.
    • Kim Siyoun and Oh Shinyeong

These selections are a testament to the talent, dedication, and curiosity of our student researchers and their mentors. We are incredibly proud to see Southville once again making its mark on the international research stage.

These achievements highlight our students’ remarkable excellence in scientific innovation, sustainability, and real-world problem-solving. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication.

Let us all support and celebrate our Monarchs as they represent the Philippines in Science Castle Asia 2025!
