Southville International School and Colleges students joined a Hongkong Study Tour recently. The study tour was specifically designed to provide the students the knowledge, skills, competencies, values and attitudes needed in the conduct of an international travel.

Thirty-one third and fourth year Tourism students accompanied by two faculty escorts were required to be at the departure area of the Centennial Airport promptly to highlight punctuality as a basic requirement in travel.

They were guided to check in themselves and experience what they learned in the classroom as regards travel requirements, documents needed, amenities and courtesies extended in the port.

Upon arrival in Hongkong, the students were exposed to the different travel activities like checking out baggage, passing through Customs officers of another country and changing Philippine peso to Hongkong dollar.

The group checked in at Rambler Oasis Hotel in Ching Yi. They were taught the rudiments of checking in and the opportunity to observe how the front desk staff extended customer service.

As part of the objectives of the Tour to let the students appreciate the cultural differences and similarities among the people of the world, they were brought to the following tourist places in Hongkong: Kwai Fong Terminal at Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon, the famous shopping areas in Nathan and Mody Road during the first day.

The second day was scheduled for the city tour and Hongkong Disneyland Tour and watched the fireworks in the evening. They proceeded to Avenue of Starts, Hongkong jewelry factory and Victoria Peak.
