Southville Represents Philippines in UN Simulation

Five High School students from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) joined more than 200 delegates from 40 schools around the world at Georgetown University – School of Foreign Service’s 6th Model United Nations (MUN) conference held last February 3-6, 2011 at Doha, Qatar. The meet provided an unparalleled educational experience for talented secondary school students as they learned about international institutions and the democratic political process through an exciting role-playing experience.

The SISC delegation was composed of Jan Nathalia Atendido, Catherine Chiang, Arielle Nicole Papa, Hyun Ji Park and Jose Angelo Zulueta with their mentor, Mr. Erwin Ragadio. They stepped into the roles of political figures, discussed and debated current global issues, and worked together to draft bills and resolutions. The representatives were able to develop valuable skills in public speaking, effective negotiation, and clear writing to become better problem solvers, democratic leaders, and global citizens.

The said activity is part of SISC’s mission to produce globally-competitive students with a strong sense of intercultural sensitivity.
