Southville Student Wins Bronze in International Math Contest



Gwyneth Margaux Tangog of Grade 7 – Resilience made the country and Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) proud by bringing home a bronze medal after competing in the 12th International Mathematics Competition (IMC) held in Singapore last July 29 – August 1, 2016. As part of the Philippine team, Gwyneth competed with other math whizzes from Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, India, and Myanmar.

Gwyneth had to answer multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and problem solving questions in ninety minutes to gauge her mathematical ability. She qualified for the international competition upon recommendation by the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG) Philippines committee on training and development by passing the MTG qualifying tests and the MTG’s Math Olympiad Summer Training Program.
