To be chosen as a Philippine representative is already an honor, but Gen Mark Tanno, a high school freshman of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), was determined to make his alma mater and country prouder. After months of intensive training, he clinched a silver medal in the Po Leung Kuk World Math Contest (PWMC) individual competition.

The 14th PWMC held in Hong Kong from July 13-17, 2011 drew 44 teams from 15 countries, namely Australia, Bulgaria, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, and the Philippines.

The Philippine Delegation reaped a total of 11 recognitions (1 gold, 4 silvers, 4 bronzes and 2 merit awards).
