The Philippine Board of Studies handpicked top students nationwide to compete in Malaysia early this year for the International Science Competition. One of the few students who made it was Southville’s consistent academic varsity and veteran contender, Robert Jeremiah Rivera. Rivera participated in two categories which were the Junior Team Competition where he earned BRONZE together with his “Vietnamese” teammates and the Junior Individual Competition where he attained SILVER and was only two-point lead close to the gold. Southville Students brought home medals from the 15th International Mathematics and Science Olympiad for Primary School Students (IMSO) held last Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, 2018 in Zhejiang, China. Ervin Joshua Bautista of Gr. 6 – Perseverance won the Philippines’ lone gold medal in Science while Kristner Sheyn Saludo of Gr. 5 – Loyalty scored a silver medal also in Science.

Students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) received awards in the 2018 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) – Science that drew over one million student entries from more than twenty countries. Ervin Joshua Bautista of Gr. 6 – Perseverance, Robert Jeremiah Rivera of Gr. 7 – Resilience, and Gwyneth Margaux Tangog of Gr. 9 – Compassion were awarded the High Distinction Certificate for placing in the top 1% of all participants in their level.
