Southville Faculty Joins Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative

Congratulations to our Social Living and Global Education Faculty, IB Student Council Moderator, and SISC MUN Director, Mr. Jude Russel Cuntapay for being accepted as a delegate and workshop leader on the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Alumni Workshop on Global Environmental Issues and Natural Resources Management. He will be representing our school in this workshop in Bali, Indonesia on February 11 to 17.

Mr. Jude will join the pool of 80 young community leaders and environmental campaigners across 11 countries in Southeast Asia. Spearheaded by the US Embassy in Jakarta, the East-West Center of the University of Hawaii, and the University of Montana, this ​​alumni-run, fully funded activity is a platform for sharing best practices among peers and local experts, alumni networking, community service and cultural activities. The workshop will include topics on Circular economy, including eco-tourism and social entrepreneurship, Innovative Solutions; policy and cultural practices, Conservation; forest, wildlife, and marine biodiversity, Oceans & Rivers; oceans, rivers, and water quality, and Community Building; gender, youth, indigenous, diversity, equity & inclusion.

He is an Academic Fellow at the University of Montana (Spring 2019). As the Environmental Education Specialist and volunteer environmental campaigner of Save Philippine Seas (SPS), he received project grants to spearhead his environmental education projects like Project Kaliklasrum (2015), Mamuju Eco-Z Camp (2019), Eco-Z Camp Online (2021), and ASEAN Citizen Science STEAM Online Course (2022). He has worked as a program consultant and facilitator on various environmental and climate change education projects in the Philippines and abroad.
