Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) received the prestigious Philippine Quality Award (PQA) for Mastery in Quality Management during the Conferment Ceremony held at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace last July 17, 2024. This marks the second time SISC has received the country’s highest presidential honor for performance excellence after receiving the PQA for Commitment to Quality Management in 2019.
The SISC senior management team composed of Dr. Jocelyn P. Tizon, Mr. Wallen Tan, Dr. Avic Suarez, Dr. Ardee Donato, Dr. Ruel Cajili, Ms. Astrid De Leon, and Ms. Nessie Lumbres received the award from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. SISC won in the education category by ensuring high standards and fostering innovation through total quality management and productivity enhancement.
SISC earned the award after going through a rigorous review of its various programs. An independent team of PQA examiners from various industries throughout the country spent a week reviewing the school’s application and conducting an on-site examination. The exhaustive review of SISC’s quality and results covered several areas namely leadership, strategy, customers, measurement, analysis and knowledge, management, workforce, operations, and results.
SISC takes pride in its significant accomplishments including being the youngest college to be granted an Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education, accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and College, authorization as an International Baccalaureate World School, the Best Employer Award from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Gold Level award from Investors in People, the Global Performance Excellence Award and International Platinum Best Practice Award for its Virtual Online Learning and Teaching Program from the Asia Pacific Quality Organization.
More importantly, SISC graduates have topped certification and licensure board exams while obtaining a 100% passing rate in consecutive years. All of its Basic Education graduates qualified for courses of their choice in the most prestigious colleges and universities in the Philippines and abroad, while students in nursing, accountancy, psychology, multi-media arts, information technology, education, tourism, and business administration found employment or businesses after graduation.
SISC is the only international school in the country to achieve this level of recognition in the history of the PQA. This accolade is the latest testament to SISC’s serious commitment to continuous improvement and quality management while serving as a role model to other educational institutions in the country.
