Graders Clinch 2nd Place in National Quiz Show



The tandem of Aika Riguerra of Grade 6-Perseverance and Matthew Sybingco of Grade 5-Righteousness clinched second place in the UNTV Campus Challenge featuring top students from private, public, and science schools from around the country.

The game proper was aired on UNTV Channel 37 and the duo fielded questions in Sci-Tech (Science and Technology), In the News (Civic Studies / Current Events), MATHinikan, Word-O-Poly (Language), Literature, Filipiniana, Kalikasan Para sa Kabataan (Environment and Green Energy), General Information, Health, Sports and Fitness, Music and the Arts, Pop Culture, and Around the World (History and Geography). Southville Student Earns Gold in Math Exam



Stefano Crispino de Castro of Grade 4-Humility will be awarded a gold medal for earning the highest score in the Standards-Based Assessment (SBA) for Mathematics for third graders given by the Asian Psychological Services & Assessment, Inc. last academic year 2010-2011.

95,552 students from 250 private schools nationwide took the said exam. The SBS Gold Medal of Mathematics will be awarded to Stefano during the 6th Annual Convention of the Math Circle of the Philippines on November 18, 2011. [Read more]

Southville Student Tops National Shooting Tournament



Proving that students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) excel not just in academics but also in sports is 14-year old sharpshooter Ma. Isabel Fernandez of High School III – Conviction. She may be young in age but not with experience, as she was proclaimed Champion in the recently concluded Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) National Open for 10-meter Air Pistol – Women’s Division.

Her score of 371 out of a possible 400 is her personal best. She gunned the national team representatives bound for the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia this November.

Southville Seniors Win in Regional Essay Writing



Fourth year high school students Dominique Martine Esguerra and Juliana Maria Masilungan finished in the top ten of the 2nd Goodwill Bookstore Essay Writing Contest. The said competition was participated in by more than ninety student-writers from both public and private schools in the National Capital Reigon.

The content, style, and coherence of their essays on the environmental awareness among the youth entitled “Going Green in the Philippine Scene – A Trendy Attempt or a Timeless Effort” impressed the judges. IB Parents and Guardians Orientation Set



The SISC International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme will host the IB New Parents and Guardians Orientation on September 10, 2011, 9:00 am at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Tropical Campus. The orientation is for parents and guardians who want to know more about the IB Diploma Program, and the benefits it offers to students.

Southville High School Students Rediscover Jose Rizal



In line with Dr. Jose Rizal’s 150th birthday celebration and as supplement to their studies, the High School IV regular Filipino students watched Gantimpala Theater’s staging of “El Filibusterismo” last August 27, 2011 at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo.

The students developed a better understanding and appreciation of the novel after watching the play’s creative staging, powerful visuals, clear storytelling and moving music. Southville Student Claims 2nd Spot in International Golfing Tilt



Chanelle Avaricio of High School II – Generosity notched second place in the Girls 14 Division of the 2011 US Kids Golf Teen World Championship held last July 28-30, 2011 in Pinehurst, North Carolina USA.

The three-day tournament is one of the world’s largest junior golf championships with a field of over 1200 kids from 30 countries from around the world. [Read more]

Southville Student Wins Silver in International Math Contest



To be chosen as a Philippine representative is already an honor, but Gen Mark Tanno, a high school freshman of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), was determined to make his alma mater and country prouder. After months of intensive training, he clinched a silver medal in the Po Leung Kuk World Math Contest (PWMC) individual competition.

The 14th PWMC held in Hong Kong from July 13-17, 2011 drew 44 teams from 15 countries, namely Australia, Bulgaria, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, and the Philippines.
