In line with Southville International School and Colleges’ quest for reading excellence, the school hosted its 2nd Reading Conference with the topic Developing Successful Readers in a Diverse Community last March 14-15, 2019. The topics covered include Reading Gains through Read Aloud, Sustaining Mindful Reading Habits, and Recreational and Intentional Reading that aim to align diverse methodologies and practices to raise highly proficient readers in today’s digital age.

Mr. Jude Russel Cuntapay made it to the list of bright young leaders set to leave for Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Spring 2019, April of this year. YSEALI, an Academic Fellowship Program sponsored by the U.S. government was launched in 2013 merging Asian nations promoting diplomacy and stronger ties among Asiatic young leaders from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. Twenty-three young diplomats were sent by Southville International School and Colleges to represent the said institution at the Model United Nations Assembly 21st Conference. The team arrived at the World Health Organization Headquarters in formal wear armed with enough skills they need to survive the two-day exhaustive discussion on the world’s top issues. Southville International School and Colleges has appointed Ms. Jocelyn P. Tizon as acting president to advance the mission and vision of the school. Ms. Tizon graduated cum laude with a degree in Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in Mathematics at Siliman University. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from American City University, Masters in International Hospitality Management at the Lyceum of the Philippines (2012), and is finishing a PhD in Management from the Lyceum of the Philippines, bringing to the position nineteen years of experience in senior leadership at SISC. SISC alumnus, Jose Enrico Quinsaat, visited Southville last January 7 with a long-held collection of stamps and paper bills donated to the school’s museum. Joined by his mother, Mrs. Zeny Quinsaat, he officially turned over his collection to support the school’s mission of providing a venue to conserve artistic and historical pieces in the southern part of Metro Manila. Monarchs Bag Awards at the YALE UNIVERSITY WORLD SCHOLAR’S CUP 2018

Eighteen student delegates, forty-three SILVER medals, sixty-six GOLD medals, one TROPHY… Monarchs showcased Southville’s intellectual supremacy during their debut competition at the World Scholar’s Cup – Tournament of Champions last November 16-21 at Yale University.

Cuitlauzina Brianna Cerbito, Akisha Julianne Cu, Renz Leobert del Rosario and Miguel Dominico Alzona made it to the list of Top 100 Champion Scholars awarded at the said competition where ALZONA and DEL ROSARIO were proclaimed Philippines’ Rank 1 and 2 respectively.
